Welcome to the fifth Pactoria dev blog. The long awaited Pactoria map is finally here.
This map has been in the works for four months straight, and that is almost entirely down to [BUILDER NAME], who poured tireless effort into making sure this world has variety and stands apart from any map you've set foot on before. Because of that work, Pactoria is going to feel more alive than ever, with every continent feeling like a world of its own.
It's a full 15k by 15k, the same footprint as the old map, but don't let that fool you. Landmass is way up this time around. Each of the four continents on its own is big enough to outsize the average geopolitical map you'd find on most servers today.
The four continents
Nordova, northwest
Also known as the famous top left. Nordova is clean, minimalist and grounded in realism, built for people who want to settle in and build without fighting the terrain at every step. Up north you'll find the huge fang like mountain ranges it's known for. Simple and beautiful.
Tethra, southwest
The smallest of the four, but don't sleep on it. Tethra strikes a balance between fantasy and realism, and suits people who love exploring hidden mysteries but still want the world to feel grounded. If you're looking to spice up your journey, head to Tethra.
Erranth, southeast
A decently sized continent, much like Nordova. Erranth is defined by its rock formations, with exposed mountain ranges all over that give natural defense to anyone settling within those massive walls. Huge land bridges connect its two main parts, making them perfect strategic ground to hold. If you want interesting terrain, Erranth is your pick.
Kaelor, northeast
Then comes the big one. Kaelor is by far the largest of the four and is full to the brim with features: giant glowing crystals in the forest, glowing mushrooms, giant trees, rock formations and energy pillars. Out of all four it takes the fantasy element furthest, with its magical purple forests and cursed crimson island.
What the world hides
It isn't just what's on the surface. The whole map has fully custom underground cave generation with its own biomes: crystal caves, frozen caves, forest caves and open caverns so large you can't see the end of them. Every mining trip becomes a journey of its own. If you're very lucky, you might even stumble across one of the nether enclaves of Pactoria, pockets of the nether that seeped into our world.
Beyond that, the world holds plenty more for those willing to look. A huge chasm separates all four continents beneath the oceans, running down to bedrock. Graveyards of giants sit forgotten in places few have found. Ruins of the past, and civilizations that still live in this world, wait to be stumbled upon. Dungeons full of danger and even more glory are scattered across Pactoria for anyone brave enough to go looking.
All of it was carefully shaped for you to write your own story in, so that every day you find something new and the excitement of exploring never runs out.
See it for yourself
We've put together a playlist showing the world in full.
More is in the works as always. See you in the next one.
