Welcome to the thirteenth Pactoria dev blog. Three new professions have just arrived: cooking, brewing and cheese making, each built to give players something rewarding to sink their teeth into.
Cooking
Cooking comes with three new stations. The oven is your go to for baking, so load it with fuel, add your ingredients and let it turn out the best baked goods. The worktop doubles as a cutting board for slicing ingredients with a knife and a mixing board for working up all kinds of dough. The cooking pot handles the more complex recipes, the ones calling for custom crops and processed ingredients such as butter or spices.
The harder the recipe, the bigger the payoff. Some of the tougher dishes beat vanilla food entirely and give far more saturation, which makes cooking a genuine business opportunity. Start thinking of names for your restaurant now.
Brewing
Brewing lets you craft alcoholic drinks, brews and juices. Crush fruit into juice, brew it in a cauldron with other ingredients, and if you're patient, age it into a proper booze.
There are plenty of recipes in already for people to enjoy and roleplay around. If you have an idea for your own recipe with custom effects, you can pick up a custom brew recipe from the server store and we'll work with you to build it exactly how you want it.
Cheese making
The smallest of the three. Cheese making works much like brewing, but with milk and yeast. Cheeses fall into three categories, fresh, slightly aged and aged, and each category holds a wide range of types, some common and some genuinely rare. There's a real luck factor involved, so who ends up with the rarest cheese on the server is anyone's guess.
The bigger picture
These three systems are about making day to day life on Pactoria more interesting: more to learn, more business to build, and more reason to stick around and master something new. Anyone willing to put in the extra effort will be rewarded for it.
