Welcome to the second Pactoria dev blog. This one is about something we've been excited to share for a while: the steel making system.
What is it?
Steel is a new crafting system built to be as immersive as it is useful. It isn't just a material, it's a process, and one that should feel like you're actually forging something valuable with your own hands.
How to make it
- Smelt coal using lava to get coal coke.
- Drink a fire resistance potion before you start working near the heat.
- Mix 4 iron ingots with 4 pieces of coal coke and wait for them to heat up.
- Hammer down the raw hot steel.
- Cool it in water.
What is steel used for?
Steel is the key to some of the most powerful utility items on the server:
- Siege weapons and their ammunition, such as cannonballs
- More utility items we'll be revealing further down the line
Bigger batches, less grind
Steel can be crafted in stacks rather than one piece at a time, so the process scales with you whether you're playing solo or running a large faction.
The bigger picture
Our vision for Pactoria is that everything a player does day to day should feel immersive and worth doing. Steel is a good example of that. It isn't just a recipe, it's an experience.
