Welcome to the third Pactoria dev blog. Religion has been part of the server for a while, but we went back in and reworked it. Here's what changed and how the system works now.
Getting started
A religion becomes active once you build its altar structure. From then on, the altar asks for specific items each day, and sacrificing them earns Religion Points. There's a daily cap on how much you can offer, so the system rewards showing up regularly rather than turning into a race for whoever can grind the hardest.
Events
Leaders can run events for their followers:
/event startand/event endto run one/event joinfor players taking part
Points are awarded based on how long the event ran and how many people turned up. Each religion can only run one event every three days, so they're worth planning properly instead of spamming.
Leadership
The head of a religion decides how it is run. You can create your own ranks, choose what each rank is allowed to do, and grant or remove them whenever you like. The internal structure of your religion is entirely yours to build.
The monthly competition
The leaderboard resets every month, and the religion with the most points earns a 1.5x XP buff. Not just for farming this time, it applies to everything, and every member of the winning religion keeps it for the whole month.
There's also an all time leaderboard that never resets, purely for bragging rights and history.
See it in action
We put together a video showing the whole system running end to end.
That's it for Dev Blog #3. More is in the works and we'll share it as it lands. See you in the next one.
