Welcome to the sixth Pactoria dev blog. Mythical mounts are officially here, and they're one of the best ways to get around Pactoria.
What you can ride
There's a good variety on offer, both ground and flying, with plenty of creatures to choose from: dragons, wyverns, giant frogs, giant lizards and more. Whether you're moving around your town or heading out to explore, a mount makes it faster and a lot more fun.
Things to watch out for
Flying has limits. Mounts can't cross into another nation's claim, since a magic barrier blocks them out, so you're free to fly over your own town and the wilderness but nowhere else.
Sieges are where it gets risky. Bows, the newly buffed firework crossbows and the new placeable flak turrets can all bring a mount down fast, so charging into a siege on one isn't a decision to take lightly. If your mount dies, there's a five minute cooldown before you can summon another, so they can't be spammed as an escape route.
How to get one
Mounts are earned through rune stones, a rare drop from bosses. Once you've collected enough, head to spawn and trade with the NPC, who'll let you choose between a ground or a flying mount. Hatch it and it's yours.
If you'd rather skip the grind, mounts will also be available from the server store later on as a way to support the server's development. More on that closer to the time.
The bigger picture
Mounts aren't just a flex. They're a real tool for getting around and a real risk if you aren't careful in a fight. Fast on the ground and in the sky, but ride one into a siege without thinking and you might not come back out on it.
More is in the works as always. See you in the next one.
